On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 6:28 a.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 at milepost 38, the Garrity/Idaho Center interchange. A 2008 Dodge Nitro, driven by Bobby Johnson, 31, of Nampa, was traveling westbound when he went onto the right shoulder and struck a variable message sign. The sign was then pushed into the lanes of travel where it was struck by a 2014 Kenworth, driven by Dan Delozier, 64, of Pocatello. Debris from the sign was spread across all the lanes of travel. No injuries were sustained in the crash and all drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The lanes of travel were obstructed for approximately two hours, while crews worked to clear the debris.
