ISP Investigate Fatality Crash Near Fort Hall

On Friday, April 22, 2017, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle fatality crash on I15 near Fort Hall.
David Dunn, 43, of Taylorsville, Utah, was driving southbound on I15 near milepost 83, in a semi truck and trailer. Ramon Ponce, 66, of Idaho Falls, was driving southbound in a 2000 Ford F150. Ponce attempted to overtake the semi as they entered a construction zone. The front driver's side of the semi truck made contact with the rear side of the F150. The pickup rolled and came to rest on its top off the west shoulder of the Interstate.
Ponce's passenger, Josefina Yanez Ponce, 61, of Idaho Falls, was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Ramon Ponce was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Neither of the occupants of the F150 were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Dunn was not transported.
The southbound Interstate was partially blocked for approximately four hours.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police is currently investigating a crash southbound on Interstate 15 at mile marker 83, near Fort Hall.

At this time both southbound lanes are blocked.

Motorists should expect delays.
