On Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North 3400 East Road and U.S. Highway 30, just west of Kimberly.

Andrea Vega, age 16, of Kimberly, in a 2003 Ford Explorer was stopped for a stop sign northbound on North 3400 East Road at the intersection with U.S. Highway 30. Vega continued northbound, but failed to yield to eastbound traffic on U.S. Highway 30 and was struck on the driver's side by a 2012 Ram pickup. The Ram pickup was being driven by Kenneth Cummins, age 68, of Kimberly.

One of the passengers in Vega's vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Rosalva Vega-Arreola, age 67, of Kimberly, was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. No other injuries were reported.

U.S. Highway 30 was blocked temporarily by debris from the crash, but traffic control was set up to move traffic in both directions in the eastbound lanes. The westbound lanes remained blocked for approximately 90 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.
