Final Update - Traffic Again Flowing Smoothly on Interstate 15, North of Blackfoot

On May 24, 2016, at approximately 3:16 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 97, north of Blackfoot. David Salmond, age 63, of Clinton, UT, was driving northbound on Interstate 15 in a 2008 Toyota Tundra pulling a trailer. Cheryl Gneiting, age 67, of Idaho Falls, ID, was driving northbound on Interstate 15 in a 2009 Subaru Forester. Salmond lost control of his trailer. Gneiting left the roadway and came back onto the roadway. Gneiting's vehicle overturned after striking Salmond's trailer. Gneiting was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

The left lane of northbound traffic was blocked for approximately one hour while crews worked to clear the scene. Gneiting and Salmond were wearing their seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police is currently investigating a crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 at milepost 97, north of the Blackfoot exits. At this time, the left hand lane is completely blocked. Traffic is slow in the right hand lane.

A full release will be issued when information becomes available.
