Crash near Lava Hot Springs

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at approximately 7:18 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on US30 at milepost 368.8, near Lava Hot Springs. Melvin Frandsen, 91 of Lava Hot Springs, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice. Frandsen failed to yield coming out of a private driveway on the south side of US30,striking an eastbound 2001 Honda Accord , driven by Richard Tullock, 60 of Lava Hot Springs. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the westbound lanes. The lanes were blocked for approximately two hours. Frandsen was transported by private vehicle to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Neither of the drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of crash. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
