On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at approximately 7:02 a.m., a 1970 single engine Cessna aircraft experienced a power failure while on final approach to the Boise Airport. The pilot of the aircraft, Jon M. Brinkerhoff, 30, of Westminster, CO, made an emergency landing on Interstate 84. Brinkerhoff belly landed on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 near milepost 52 as he was unable to get the landing gear to engage. Brinkerhoff was not injured in the crash.

After Brinkerhoff came to a stop, Dao D. Nguyen, 65, of Boise, ID was driving eastbound in a 2006 Ford F150 towing a boat. Nguyen clipped the left wing of the aircraft and left the scene. Nguyen called in at a later time to report his crash. Nguyen was not injured in the crash.

The two right lanes of the eastbound interstate were blocked for approximately 2 hours.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
