WHAT: "Officer on the Train" program designed to identify motorists who attempt to beat the train and violate Idaho grade crossing laws.

WHEN: Monday July 6, 2015
6:45-7:00 am. - Press Briefing

WHO: The "Officer on the Train" program is sponsored by Union Pacific Railroad and Idaho Operation Lifesaver, Idaho State Police, Pocatello City Police Department, Bannock, Bonneville and Bingham County Sheriff Department's as well as city agencies in those areas. The briefing will include: Travis Campbell, State Director for Operation Lifesaver as well as officers from the agencies involved.

WHY: An incident happens about every three hours between a train and a motorist/pedestrian

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: There is an opportunity for the media representatives to ride in the locomotive cab. If motorists violate the law by ignoring the signals, you may be able to obtain video of officers issuing citations to drivers. If your station wants a timeslot riding in the cab of the locomotive, you must make arrangements by contacting Travis Campbell. It will be first come first serve after this date.
