On Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 at approximately 11:48 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle, semi-truck crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 229, about 18 miles east of Burley.

Hugh Thompson, age 49, of Riverside, CA, was driving a 2012 Freightliner tractor hauling milk in a refrigerated box trailer eastbound on Interstate 84. Near milepost 229, Thompson drove off the roadway and partially into the dirt off the right side off the road. Thompson corrected to the left, back onto the roadway, and tipped the truck and trailer onto its passenger side, blocking both eastbound lanes.

Thompson and his passenger, Alicia Thompson, age 21, were transported via ground ambulance to Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley. Hugh Thompson was wearing his seat belt.

The eastbound lanes will remain blocked for a few more hours while crews work to clear the scene. The Idaho Transportation Department is diverting traffic off of Interstate 84 at exit 228 and back on at interchange 237.
