On March 31, 2015, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on State Highway 55 at US Highway 20, the intersection of Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard in Boise. Max Griffin, 73, of Lebanon, Missouri, was southbound on Eagle Road in a 1999 International tractor pulling a trailer. W.D. Taylor, 64, of Boise, was northbound on Eagle Road in a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup, in the rightmost lane. As Griffin proceeded through the intersection, Taylor made an improper left turn in front of the tractor-trailer, failing to yield. Griffin collided with the passenger side of Taylor's vehicle.

It is unknown if seatbelts were worn by either occupant. Taylor was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The southbound lanes of Eagle Road were blocked for approximately four and a half hours while police and emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
