On September 14, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a four-vehicle injury crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 36, near Nampa. Edel Valdez, age 18 of Caldwell, was traveling westbound in a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and slowed for traffic. Martin Macias, age 52 of Meridian, was driving west in a 2006 Dodge Dakota, when he veered left to avoid the slowing Jetta and struck the vehicle from behind. Robin Hagaman, age 53 of Nampa, was traveling behind Macias' vehicle in a 2003 Toyota Matrix and was able to avoid a collision with Valdez and Macias' vehicles. Anne Uhl, age 66 of Boise, was traveling in a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 behind Hagaman's vehicle and was unable to stop, striking Hagaman from behind. Hagaman was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Health Plaza in Nampa.

The left lane of westbound travel was blocked for approximately one hour while crews worked to clear the scene. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
