On March 15, 2014, at 2:45 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on State Highway 48 at milepost 1, near Roberts.

Timothy "Shawn" Meier, 23, of Menan, was westbound on State Highway 48 in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. Allen Clayton, 65, of Roberts, was walking eastbound on the paved portion of the westbound lane of State Highway 48. Meier tried to swerve to miss Clayton and struck Clayton with the right side of the Suburban. Clayton was transported via air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The next of kin has been notified.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police with assistance at the scene from the Jefferson County Sheriff.
