Fatality Crash on US93, Near Richfield, ID

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash on US93 at milepost 182, in Richfield, ID.

Ismail Mohammed, 57 of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada was driving north in a 2012 Kenworth tractor pulling a trailer hauling vegetables. Mark Mandis, 43 of Jerome, was driving south in a 2005 Kenworth tractor hauling two hay trailers. Mandis' vehicle crossed the center line and into the northbound lane of travel, colliding with Mohammed's vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. Mohammed succumbed to his injuries before arriving at the hospital.

U.S. Highway 93 was completely blocked by the crash and later officially closed by the Idaho Transportation Department. The highway remains closed at this time.

Idaho State Police is currently investigating a crash involving two commercial vehicles on US 93 at milepost 182, near Richfield, ID. Traffic on US 93 is being diverted from Shoshone, ID to Carey, ID.
