For Immediate Release: 12/5/13 at 10:54 a.m.

The Idaho State Police are investigating the crash of a school bus and a dump truck at the intersection of Deer Flat and Happy Valley Roads in Canyon County. The bus was transporting ten elementary school age children on the way to Crimson Point Elementary in Kuna. Five children were injured in the crash, with one child succumbing to injuries at the scene. The parents of that child have been notified. The other four children have been transported to area hospitals and their conditions are unknown at this time. The children who were not injured have been released to their parents.

The crash is still being investigated, and the only information known at this time is the school bus was traveling east on Deer Flat Road and the dump truck was traveling north on Happy Valley Road. There is a two way stop at the intersection and those traveling on Deer Flat Road have a stop sign.
The names of those involved in the crash have not been released. Investigators will be on scene for a few more hours. More information will be released as it becomes available. ISP is planning to address the media gathered on scene shortly after 12:00 pm this afternoon.
