On Wednesday, October, 2, 2013, at 10:00am, the Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle injury crash on US20 near milepost 324, just north of Rigby. Tiffany Tibbitts, 22 from Rigby, ID, was east on US 20 in a Subaru Outback. Shellie George, 37 from Pocatello was east on US 20 in a Dodge Grand Caravan. Kristin Wright, 31 from Idaho Falls, was also east on US 20 in a GMC Yukon. Tibbitts attempted to pass George's vehicle using the right lane of travel. She sped up in an attempt to cut back in front of George's vehicle and clipped the front end of her Caravan. Tibbitts lost control of her vehicle and crashed into Wright's Yukon. Tibbitts vehicle then went across the median, across both westbound lanes on US 20, and off the shoulder of the road colliding with a metal utility pole. George and Wright were able to maintain control of their vehicles. George drove into the median and stopped and Wright was able to stop on the right shoulder of the east bound lanes. Tibbitts was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Eastern Idaho Medical Center by ground ambulance. Wright and George were wearing seatbelts. The investigation is ongoing pending toxicology reports of Tibbitts. The Idaho State police was assisted by Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office, Rigby QRU, and Idaho Falls EMS.
