On Friday September 13, 2013, at approximately 10:11 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash near milepost 109 on State Highway 46, approximately two miles south of Gooding. Carmen Steele, 74, of Jerome, ID, was travelling east on 2100 South in a 2005 Chrysler Sebring. E. Beard, 23, of Moore, ID, was travelling south on State Highway 46 in a 1999 Volvo semi truck. Steele failed to yield at the stop sign and struck Beard's truck. Steele succumbed to her injuries at the crash scene. Next of kin has been notified. Both lanes of travel were blocked for approximately 3 hours.

The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
