On August 13, 2012, at approximately 10:22 am, Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle crash on US Highway 95 at milepost 159.5, south of New Meadows. Taylor Hill, 15, of New Meadows, was driving southbound in an Isuzu Rodeo when she looked away from the roadway momentarily. Hill left the her lane, overcorrected back onto the roadway, and overcorrected again, driving off the shoulder. The Isuzu went down a 50-foot embankment, through a fence, hit a mound of dirt, and struck a power pole.

Hill was licensed on an instruction permit, and did have a licensed driver with her in the vehicle. Both were wearing their seatbelts, and were transported to St. Luke's McCall. Proper use of seatbelts saved both passengers from further injury. The crash is still under investigation.
