On Tuesday, July 24, 2012 shortly before 3pm, Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle rollover westbound on Interstate 84 at mile marker 192. Michael Cox, 26 from Washington, was westbound in a Ford Taurus when he fell asleep at the wheel. He drifted off the left side of the road, overcorrected, and crossed both lanes of traffic. He then hit an embankment causing the vehicle to overturn and land on its top.
The passenger, Sean Clarke, 23 from Boise, fled the scene due to a warrant for his arrest out of Elmore County. Clarke was apprehended, and is now in custody. Cox is also in custody for Driving Without Privileges and obstructing law enforcement officers at the scene of the crash.
Cox and Clarke were both transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's in Jerome with minor injuries, and will be transported to Jerome County Jail when medically cleared.
Clarke was not wearing a seat belt, and it is unknown if Cox was wearing his.
The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
