On May 20, 2012, at approximately 7:16 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle fatal crash westbound on state highway 25 near milepost 53, east of Rupert. Apolinar Rodriguez, 43 of American Falls, was travelling southbound on 100 E in a 2005 Pontiac G6 when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Colten Crowley, 21 of Rupert, was travelling westbound on SH25 in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, and struck Rodriguez' car on the driver's side. There were five occupants in the 2005 Pontiac G6. Glafira Rodriguez, 82 of American Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene. Apolinar Rodriguez, Margarita Rodriguez, 41 of American Falls, and two juveniles, ages 5 and 12, were transported by ground ambulance to Minidoka Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Crowley was transported by a private vehicle to Minidoka Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One lane of travel was blocked for approximately one and a half hours.

The Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by the Minidoka County Sheriff's Office, the Rupert Police Department, East End Fire and EMS, and the Idaho Department of Transportation.
