On Sunday, October 30, 2011, at approximately 3:20 am, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle crash westbound on Interstate 84 near the overpass of milepost 182, the Kimberly exit. Javier Fuentes Pinto, 39, was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang eastbound on Interstate 84 when he drove off the roadway into the median, returned to the roadway and overcorrected striking the guard rail near milepost 182. Fuentes Pinto then lost control of the vehicle, which traveled back through the median, crossing westbound lanes and came to rest partially in the westbound lane of travel. Fuentes Pinto and his passenger, Viay Villeda Hilario, 20, were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls. Fuentes Pinto was wearing a seatbelt; Villeda Hilario was not.
The westbound lanes were blocked for approximately 3 and a half hours. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation by Trooper Dahl.
