On August 14, 2011, at approximately 04:22 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash on I84 at milepost 47, between Cloverdale and 5 Mile.

Ronald Sawyer, 45, of Caldwell ID, and a passenger were traveling eastbound on I84 in a red 1989 Acura Integra. Frankie Sanchez, 35 of Boise, ID, was traveling eastbound in a 2006 Chrysler 300. Frankie was traveling at a high rate of speed, witnesses estimated between 120 and 130 mph, when he ran into the back of Ronald's vehicle, causing the vehicle to roll off the right side of the interstate. Frankie then fled the scene, to be stopped approximately 30 minutes later by Boise Police Department at Fairview and Chinden.

Ronald and his passenger were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus in Boise and released with minor injuries.
Frankie was arrested and taken to St. Alphonsus for medical care, then booked into Ada County Jail for Aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of a crash.

The crash is under investigation by Trooper Langton with the assistance of Sergeant Ketchum, Corporal Hedges, Trooper Coleman, Boise Police Department, Ada County Sherriff, and Idaho Department of Transportation.
