On July 20, 2011, at approximately 7:16 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on Interstate 184 near the flyover at milepost .2. On this section of road there are six westbound travel lanes.

Michael E. Leydig, 39, of Issaquah, WA, was travelling west in a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. Leydig was in the lane second over from the left side of the road. James W. Cloud, 45, of Boise, ID was also travelling west on a maroon 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Cloud was in the lane fourth over from the left side of the road. Not being from the area, Leydig realized that he was going to miss his exit and traveled across the gore and through a lane of traffic before sideswiping McCloud's motorcycle.

McCloud was wearing a helmet. He was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID. Leydig was wearing a seatbelt. He was not injured.
