ITD, ISP partnered to enhance Seat Belt Compliance

The Idaho Transportation Department partnered with the Idaho State Police and other law enforcement agencies across Idaho to make highways safer by funding high visibility seat belt patrols May 23 through June 7, 2011.

During this campaign, Region 4 Idaho State Police troopers focused on increasing compliance of seat belt and child restraint use. Here is a summary of the results:

DUI Arrests - 18
Seat Belt / Child Restraint Citations - 178
Felony Arrests - 1
Fugitives Apprehended - 4
Suspended Driver Licenses - 33
Uninsured Motorists - 99
Speeding Citations - 616
Other Hazardous Moving Citations - 70
Drug Arrests - 31
Underage Alcohol Arrests - 3
Other Various Contacts - 84

"Your best and only way to ensure surviving a crash is to always wear a seat belt and remain attentive to your surroundings and other drivers," Sergeant Oliver said.
