On April 20, 2011, shortly after 5:00 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a four-vehicle crash westbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 45, the Locust Grove overpass. Vehicles were in stop-and-go traffic during rush hour. A Hyundai Sante Fe driven by Kimberly Steed, age 31 of Glenns Ferry struck a Toyota Camry driven by Clinton Richelieu, age 79 of Meridian, from behind, causing a chain reaction with subsequent vehicles. Richelieu's vehicle then struck a Suzuki Forenza driven by Ruth Delgado, age 25 of Meridian. Delgado, in turn, stuck a Jeep SUV driven by Benjamin Denny, age 28 of Kuna. Injuries were minor, with Richelieu being transported to St Lukes in Meridian. Steed was cited for following too close.

The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Langton of the Idaho State Police. Trooper Langton was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Burke, Corporals Walker and Thompson, and Trooper Sharp, as well as an ITD Incident Response Unit, Meridian Fire Department, and Ada County Paramedics.
