On Friday, January 14, 2011, at approximately 09:11 a.m. Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Purple Sage Road and Duff Lane, just northeast of the city of Middleton, ID.
Tina Palmer, 37, of Middleton, ID, was driving northbound on Duff Road in a white 2010 Chevy Impala. Palmer failed to stop at the intersection of Purple Sage Road and Duff Road, causing a white 2004 GMC Yukon to strike the side of her car. The GMC Yukon was driven by Robert Davis, 37, also of Middleton. Davis was traveling westbound on Purple Sage Road.
Both vehicles were thrown into a field on the northwest corner of the intersection. Two area residents, who are both nurses, helped perform life saving measures on scene of the crash. Palmer's car had four juvenile passengers, including a 10 year old boy who was ejected. All passengers were transported to St Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, ID; several have serious injuries. Palmer was transported to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, ID. Davis was checked out on scene by emergency crews, however he refused any medical transport.
At the time of the crash, there was heavy fog and road conditions were icy. It is unknown if all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation by Cpl. Gripton, who was assisted at the scene by Senior Trooper Szeles, Senior Tpr. Vance, Tpr. Cottrell, Tpr. Higley, and Sgt. Cagle. Canyon County Sheriff Deputies along with Middleton Fire Department and Canyon County Paramedics also assisted.
