On Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 7:45 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a serious injury crash that occurred near the Stage Stop on Interstate 84. Quinton M. Qualm, 37 of Mesa, Arizona was traveling west bound when lost control on slick roads at mile post 71. His vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, went through the median, turned over on the driver's side, and slid into the left lane of the east bound traffic before coming to a stop. The left lane was blocked for 1.5 hours for emergency crews. Qualm was taken by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise in critical condition. It does appear that Qualm was wearing his seatbelt.

Throughout Sunday evening, Idaho State Police and local law enforcement agencies have dealt with a multiple slide offs and property damage crashes. Due to inclement weather and very icy roads we would like to remind drivers to slow down and practice safe driving.
