On Sunday, June 6th, 2010, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle double fatality near Hammett in Elmore County. The crash occurred eastbound on Interstate 84 at mile marker 116, at approximately 3:00a.m.

A 19 year old male was travelling eastbound on the interstate when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the left side of the road and rolled across the median into the west bound lanes. The male driver and an 18 year old female passenger were thrown from the vehicle and died on scene. Two other passengers, a 20 year old female and a 17 year old female were both air lifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Hospital with serious injuries. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were blocked for about 3 hours. Traffic was diverted off the interstate at exit 121. Alcohol may be a factor in this crash.

The names of the victims and injured are not being released at this time, pending notification of family and further investigation. The crash is being investigated by Trooper T. Jussel with assistance from Trooper M. Wendler.
