On Monday, February 01, 2010 at approximately 5:34 A.M, Idaho State Police and Elmore County emergency crews investigated a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at mile post 73.2. David P. Bowers, 53 of Boise, was headed west bound in a 2002 Ford F350 pickup. It appears that Bowers was driving too fast for the slick road conditions when he lost control, went into the median, rolled one full time before coming to rest in the left lane on the east bound side. His truck was then struck by a semi with a box trailer and pushed back into the median. Bowers was transported by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with serious injuries. His passenger, Jonathan E. Hanson, 43 of Emmett, was also transported to the same hospital with minor injuries. The semi driver, Timothy D. Martin, 41 of Boise, received no injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor. Weather and speed were contributing factors in this crash. The roads were reported as slick with very low visibility in the area.
This crash is under investigation by Trooper Pattis with assistance from members of the Idaho State Police Commercial Vehicle Safety and the Idaho State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
