On January 26, 2010 at approximately 8:06 a.m., Idaho State Police and Bonneville County emergency crews investigated a two-vehicle crash Eastbound on US Highway 20 at milepost 316.5, east of Ucon.

Rosa Cardenas-Tafolla, 25, of Idaho Falls, driving a red 1998 GMC pickup was traveling in the right lane westbound on US Highway 20. A vehicle passed Cardenas-Tafolla then pulled back in front of her in the right lane. When she applied her brakes she lost control of her vehicle and slid across the left westbound lane, through the median onto the left eastbound lane striking a blue 2004 Chevrolet pickup in the right eastbound lane being driven by Nicholas Welch, 26, of Rigby.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Cardenas-Tafolla's air bag deployed and she was treated and released on scene by Bonneville Emergency Medical Services. Welch was transported to EIRMC where he was treated and released for minor whiplash. Weather is believed to have been a factor, however alcohol and drugs were not involved in this crash which is still under investigation by Corporal Bivins of the Idaho State Police.
