On January 3, 2010 at approximately 1:45 p.m., Idaho State Police and Jefferson County emergency crews responded to and investigated a two-vehicle crash at 267 North and 4700 East, north of Ririe. Thomas Jones, 58, of Roberts, was traveling southbound on 4700 East in a gold Chevrolet pickup when he attempted to make a u-turn. Chad Sipple, 34, of Evanston, Wyoming, was also southbound. Sipple's white Ford pickup struck Jones' vehicle, pushing it through a fence and into a field. Jones, who was not wearing his seatbelt, as well as two of his passengers were transported to EIRMC with non-life-threatening injuries. All other occupants were wearing their seatbelts. Although roads were icy, weather is not a causal factor in this crash, which is still under investigation by Corporal Egbert of the Idaho State Police.
