On Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at approximately 8:07 am the Idaho State Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle fatality semi-truck crash on US Highway 30 at milepost 382, approximately 11 miles west of Soda Springs. Reynaldo Nevarez, 61 of Burley, was traveling eastbound on US Highway 30 in a 2006 Volvo tractor pulling a tanker trailer hauling milk when, for reasons still being investigated, his vehicle left the road off the north side. The vehicle continued traveling northeast over a gravel construction road and came to rest when it struck a dirt embankment.

Nevarez was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The crash is still under investigation led by Trooper E. Bates. Bates was assisted at the scene by Trooper C. Bake, Corporals R. Stouse and B. Sweat, and Sergeant M. Winans.
