On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at approximately 3:22 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 195, east of Hazelton, in Jerome County. Marty Lowder, 38, of Rupert, was traveling westbound in a 2003 Ford Crown Vic when he left the road, crossed the median and went into the eastbound lanes. Rosalio Llamas, 38, of Burien, Washington, was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Kenworth semi hauling two trailers loaded with potatoes when his vehicle struck Lowder's vehicle head on. The vehicles came to rest in the left lane where they caught fire.

Lowder succumbed to his injuries on scene. Llamas was transported by air ambulance to St Lukes Magic Valley in Twin Falls. It is unknown if seatbelts were worn by either driver. Next of kin have been notified. The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately 5 hours.

The Idaho State Police was assisted by Jerome County Sheriff's Office, the Idaho Transportation Department, Fish and Game, Magic Valley Paramedics, Air St Lukes, Rock Creek QRU, First Segregation EMS, and West End Fire Department. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
