On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 5:43 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash eastbound on I84 at mile marker 163.5, west of Jerome.

Norma Ortiz, 23, of Wendell, was traveling eastbound on I84 in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. Ortiz lost control of her vehicle, drove off the roadway, and struck the pillar of the overpass at 300 W.
Ortiz was transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley by ground ambulance. She was wearing her seatbelt.

The left lane of both eastbound and westbound lanes were blocked for two hours.

Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Gooding County Sheriff's Office, Jerome City Police, and Jerome Rural Fire.
