On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at approximately 1:09 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash on southbound State Highway 55, near milepost 81, north of Banks in Boise county.

Fredrik Egurrola, 70, of Homedale, was driving northbound on State Highway 55 near milepost 81 in a 2000 Dodge pickup. David Lankarge, 37, of Killeen, TX, was driving southbound on State Highway 55 in a 2009 Volvo semi-truck pulling a trailer. Egurrola crossed left of the center line into the southbound lane of travel and struck the Volvo head on.

Egurrola succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Lankarge was transported via private vehicle to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

Notification to next of kin has been made.

State Highway 55 was blocked for approximately two and a half hours.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
