On August 27th, 2018, at 08:36 am, the Idaho State Police responded to a semi truck and trailer reported to be jack-knifed on I90 at milepost 11, near the Northwest Boulevard exit, in the eastbound lanes. Lucas A. Meuchel, 44 years old, of Dickinson, North Dakota, was traveling eastbound on I90, driving a 1997 Kenworth Tractor, pulling a flatbed trailer, approaching milepost 11. Traffic was slowing in front of Meuchel and he realized he was not going to be able to slow down in time and drove into the ditch causing the semi truck and trailer to jack-knife partially blocking the right lane of travel. One of the fuel tanks to the semi-truck was punctured, causing 50 to 60 gallons of diesel to spill into the ditch. The Interstate was partially blocked for approximately 2 hours. Meuchel was cited for failing to maintain lane.
