Final Update: Downed Power Lines Blocking Interstate in Pocatello

On Monday, July 16, 2018, at approximately 5:13 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated multiple downed power lines on Interstate 15 at milepost 69, near the Clark Street exit in Pocatello.

Larry Clark, 50, of South Jordan, UT, was driving southbound on I15 in a 2017 International semi-truck pulling one trailer. The International semi was struck by one of the falling power lines. Rodney Cluff, 57, of Pocatello, ID, was also driving southbound in a 2014 Kenworth Tractor pulling one trailer and struck the downed lines in the road way.

One of the power poles caught on fire and toppled over bringing down multiple other lines in the area. The northbound and southbound lanes were blocked by the power lines for approximately 3.5 hours.

The southbound lanes of travel are open. The southbound I15 Clark Street on ramp is still blocked.

At this time, the Idaho State Police is on scene with some power lines that have fallen across I15 near Clark St., exit 69. Both northbound and southbound traffic is blocked. Northbound traffic is being diverted S 5th Ave., exit 67. Southbound traffic is being diverted at Pocatello Creek Rd., exit 71. More information will be relayed as it becomes available.
