On July 12, 2018, Idaho State Police was notified of a missing motorist from Teton County, WY. Air Idaho discovered the motorcycle at approximately at 5:50 p.m. off the road on SH31.

It was determined that on July 9, 2018, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Sam Collins, 63 of Jackson, WY, was traveling northbound on SH31 at milepost 11, on a 2017 KTM motorcycle. Collins failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right shoulder and overturned. Collins succumbed to his injuries at the time of the crash. Collins was wearing a helmet and riding gear. Next of kin has been notified.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Teton County Sheriff's Office in Jackson, Wyoming and Air Idaho.
