***Update***

The driver was identified as Gerrit Gulden, 41, of Rigby. He was driving a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria and he was wearing a seat belt. Gulden was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Due to the repair work still ongoing, the Idaho Transportation Department has issued an official road closure for approximately 1.5 miles of State Highway 48, from the US20 overpass to just east of North 4100 East. Road report updates, including this closure, can be located at www.511.idaho.gov or by dialing 5-1-1. This release will be updated when the highway has reopened.

Idaho State Police is currently investigating a crash in Rigby that is causing road blockage. The intersection of State Highway 48 (East 300 North) and North 4000 East in Rigby is currently blocked after a car collided with a power pole.

Technicians from Rocky Mountain Power are on scene and they estimate it will be early afternoon when the power pole is repaired and the intersection will be clear for traffic. The Idaho Transportation Department is sending crews to assist with traffic control in the area.

More information will be released as it becomes available, including when the road blockage has been cleared.
