Earlier today, Idaho State Police arrested a suspect in the murder investigation that began on October 21, 2017, when hunters discovered an unidentified male body in Owyhee County. On October 22, 2017, Owyhee County Sheriff Perry Grant asked ISP to investigate.

ISP detectives have worked to identify the male victim's remains and have conducted numerous interviews, which led to today's arrest. ISP detectives today arrested Nicholas B. Vandenberg, 27, of Melba, Idaho on the charge of first degree murder. He is being held in the Elmore County Jail.

We are not yet able to identify the male victim, but he apparently died of a gunshot wound; more information will be released once it's available.
