On Saturday, September 23, 2017, at approximately 1:42 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle rollover crash on westbound U.S. Highway 20 at milepost 327.7, near Thornton.

Amy L. Tonks, age 39, of Idaho Falls, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 20 in a 1999 Isuzu Truck when a tire blew. Tonk lost control of the vehicle, went through the median, rolled, coming to rest on its top blocking both the westbound lanes. Tonks and her passenger, Kevin G. Tonks, age 57, of Idaho Falls, were transported by ground ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Medical Center, in Idaho Falls.

Both westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 20 were blocked for approximately an hour and a half. The left lane remained blocked for an additional hour and a half. Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Idaho Transportation Department assisted the Idaho State Police at the scene. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
