On Friday, September 6th, 2017, at approximately 7:02 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash on State Highway 44 near milepost 5.2, just east of Middleton near Duff Road.

Arlene Schmidt, 61, of Middleton, ID, was driving westbound on State Highway 44 in a 1995 Plymouth Acclaim. Michael Eagy, 42, of Middleton, ID, was driving eastbound on State Highway 44 in a 1967 Ford pickup. Schmidt attempted to make a left hand turn and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Eagy struck the Plymouth on the passenger side. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane of travel. Seatbelts were worn by all occupants.

Eagy and one juvenile passenger in his vehicle were transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The eastbound lane was blocked for approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
