On Saturday, October 14, 2017, at approximately 1:33 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury crash westbound I86 at milepost 61, in Chubbuck.

Ramiro Sanchez Valles, 77, of Rupert, was westbound on I86 at milepost 61 in a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep was struck by an unknown vehicle from behind. The Jeep went off the median shoulder and rolled, coming to rest in the median.

Both Sanchez Valles and his passenger, Juanita Sanchez, 73, of Rupert, were transported to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello by ground ambulance. Sanchez Valles was wearing his seatbelt. The left westbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 50 minutes, and the left eastbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 25 minutes.

The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
