On Sunday, July 9, 2017, at approximately 1:52 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash on Old US30 near Goldsmith Road, northwest of Hammett, in Elmore County.

A 2006 Chevrolet Impala was traveling west and attempted a U-turn in the middle of the highway where it was struck by a 2009 Ford F150 pulling a camp trailer, that was also traveling west.

A passenger in the 2009 Ford was transported via air ambulance and the driver of the 2006 Chevrolet was transported via ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, in Boise.

The roadway was blocked for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
