On Monday, June 5, 2017, at approximately 12:53 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash, westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 19, 7 miles west of Caldwell. Michael Decker, age 68, of Eagle, ID, was driving westbound in a 2008 Chevrolet pickup in the right lane. Decker moved into the left lane and struck a 2003 Ford SUV driven by a juvenile. The juvenile's vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and came to rest on its wheels in the median. Decker's vehicle drove through the emergency crossover and came to rest near the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84. The juvenile was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Decker and the juvenile were both wearing seatbelts. The left lane of westbound Interstate 84 was blocked for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
