On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at approximately 6:53 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle, injury crash, eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 31, near Caldwell.

Mikel Snelling, 49, of Nampa, was driving eastbound on I84 in a 2006 Kia Spectra. A dust storm caused low visibility and Snelling came to a stop in the lane of travel. Jesse Branson, 37, of Las Vegas, NV, was driving a 2004 Freightliner Commercial vehicle, failed to stop in time, and collided with Snelling's vehicle, causing it to roll off the right shoulder. Randy Davis, 61, of Centralia, WA, was driving in another commercial vehicle and collided with the trailer of Branson's vehicle.

Snelling was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Nampa. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. Both Branson and Davis were wearing seatbelts.

The right lane of travel was blocked for approximately 4 hours while crews investigated.
