On May 5, 2017, at approximately 1:30 p.m., an injury crash occurred westbound I90 at milepost 33, near Rose Lake, Idaho. A yellow 2008 GMC Savana van driven by Michael Kottas, 34, of Missoula, Montana, was traveling eastbound on I90 when he stuck a large pothole causing his tire to blow out. Mr. Kottas?s vehicle traveled into the westbound lanes striking a silver 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by Dale Duncan, 72, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, head on. Mr. Kottas sustained minor injuries and was not transported by medical. Mr. Duncan was transported to Kootenai Health, Coeur d?Alene and then transferred to Sacred Heart, Spokane. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and one lane of travel was blocked for approximately three hours.
