Multiple Vehicle Crash in Canyon County Sends Seven to Area Hospitals

On July 28, 2016, at approximately 11:14 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on State Highway 55 at milepost 10.1, at Riverside Rd., in Canyon County.

Christopher M. Donnelly, 29, of Nampa, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Donnelly was stopped on Riverside Rd, attempting to make a right hand turn onto eastbound State Highway 55. James W. Byerly, 66, of Boise, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, pulling a 2000 boat trailer, hauling a boat. Byerly was driving eastbound on State Highway 55, at the intersection of Riverside Road. Heather A. Redburn, 34, of Wilder, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on State Highway 55 at the intersection of Riverside Road.

Donnelly pulled out and struck Byerly's boat trailer. The boat became dislodged, and struck Redburn's Trailblazer. The Trailblazer then struck Donnelly's S-10 pickup.

Nicholas N. Scali, 28, of Nampa, was a passenger in the front of Donnelly's pickup. Asherlyn M. Opfer, 24, of Nampa, and Brittany A. Baxter-Stuchell, 28, of Nampa, were riding in the bed of the pickup. Donnelly and Scali were wearing seatbelts. They were transported by private vehicle to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, in Boise. Opfer and Baxter-Stuchell were unrestrained and ejected from the bed of the pickup. All three were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, in Boise.

Byerly and his passenger, Lorraine L. Byerly, 64, of Boise, were both wearing seatbelts.

Madeline Redburn, 10, of Boise, and Meadow Sheley, 5, of Boise, were passengers in Redburn's vehicle. All occupants of Redburn's vehicle were wearing seatbelts. All three went by private vehicle to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell.

The crash is under investigation.
