On Monday, September 28, 2015, at 6:21 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle injury crash eastbound on Interstate 84 at the Mayfield/Orchard exit, milepost 71.

Juan F. Segura, age 20 of Dallas, Texas, was driving a Penske single axle rental truck east on Interstate 84 near milepost 71. Segura went off the right shoulder, hit the guardrail, and overcorrected. The vehicle continued across to the left shoulder where it went through the guardrail before impacting the bridge abutment for the Mayfield/Orchard overpass.

Segura and his passenger, Jose D. Brown, age 33 of Dallas, Texas, were both transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The Idaho Transportation Department has the eastbound left lane blocked and the overpass blocked for traffic while they make repairs. It is unknown at this time when the repairs will be completed. Westbound traffic can use exit 74 for access. There is no alternative route for the eastbound side.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
