MERIDIAN - The Idaho State Police have arrested a Texas man suspected of trafficking marijuana from Washington en route to Texas through Idaho.

On Monday, February 16th at about 8:10 p.m. an Idaho State trooper stopped a 2009 Ford Escape traveling eastbound on I-84 near Nampa for a traffic infraction. During the stop the trooper detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The trooper called for a drug detection K-9 which subsequently alerted to the vehicle. Inside the vehicle troopers found approximately 25 pounds of marijuana. The driver told troopers that he had moved to Washington to grow marijuana to then take back to Texas to sell.

The driver of the vehicle, Victor Toscano, 24 of Houston, Texas, was arrested for Felony Trafficking of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Toscano was booked into the Canyon County Jail.

Toscano was arraigned Tuesday in Magistrate Court for the Third Judicial District in Caldwell.
