On February 19, 2015 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a non-injury crash eastbound Interstate 84 at 44.5, just east of the Meridian Road overpass. At 3:41 p.m., ISP received a report that a red van was failing to maintain lanes driving eastbound on I-84 at Ten Mile Road. Shortly after, they received a separate report of a head-on crash on I-84 near the Meridian exit. The driver of the red Ford Windstar van, Sadie Croghan, 21, of Kuna, was travelling eastbound when she fell asleep. She drove off the shoulder, lost control, came back onto the roadway, and began driving eastbound in the leftmost lane before hitting a silver Pontiac Montana van driven by Monica McGann, 31, of Boise.

It is unknown whether the vehicle occupants were wearing their seatbelts at this time. Croghan was cited for Inattentive and/or Careless Driving and Operating a Vehicle without Insurance. The inside lane of I-84 eastbound was blocked for approximately one and a half hours while troopers worked to clear the scene.
