*****UPDATE*****

On Friday, December 27, 2013, at 3:41 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash at the intersection of Hartman Street and Fairview Avenue in Boise. Burgundi Bateman, 30, of Idaho Falls, was southbound on Hartman Street in a 1993 Toyota pickup when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Scott Earls, 46, of Meridian, was westbound on Fairview in a 2002 International semi pulling a single box trailer. When Bateman entered the intersection, she struck the semi. Both the tractor and trailer fell over, landing on the driver's side. The semi blocked all four lanes on Fairview Avenue. Bateman's vehicle continued through the intersection and struck an unoccupied vehicle in the Ultimate Tint and Wheel parking lot, where her vehicle came to rest.

Bateman was transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by ground ambulance. Earls was not transported. When the semi tipped over, part of the diesel in the tanks leaked out. Fairview Avenue was blocked for over six hours, while the vehicles were removed and the diesel spill was cleaned up. Bateman was not wearing her seatbelt. Earls was wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by the Boise Police Department. This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
